I am following a 20 week training plan created by Charm City Run, an awesome running store in the Baltimore area.
We run together on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Tuesdays are a mixture of speed work, hills and trail runs. Saturdays are long runs. Long runs vary in length from 8 to 20 + miles and take place at the NCR trail, Loch Raven Resevoir, Baltimore City and Timonium, MD. Running with a group makes the length so much more bearable. I don't know if I would have the nerve to say, "oh, I think I will run 20 miles this morning" all on my own! I would talk myself out of it before starting.
On Mondays, I run with Back on My Feet. Back on My Feet is a non-profit organization that helps those who are homeless through running and team work. I have run with BoMF for the past few months (Team McVet) and am impressed by the positivity of the group. I plan to continue running with them when the marathon is over!
This leaves me with a Sunday walk/jog/run and a Thursday tempo run on my own. Wednesday is cross-training and I prefer swimming laps or yoga. Friday is off and, in my opinion, the best day of the week. It's a great schedule and I love knowing exactly what is necessary each day!
